Alta Mae (Worrell) Burton

March 18, 1918 — October 8, 2014

Alta Mae Burton, 96, of Royal Center passed away peacefully at 10:40 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the McKinney Place in Logansport.

Born on March 18, 1918 in Danville, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John and Laura (Huff) Worrell.  On August 21, 1938 she married Leonard “Doc” Burton.  He preceded her in death on November 28, 1996.

She was a 1935 Danville High School graduate.

Alta Mae was a homemaker and farmwife.  She was member of Lucerne Christian Church, Royal Center Order of Eastern Star #375, Harrison Township Extension Homemakers Club and she enjoyed collecting butterflies and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Cynthia Warren of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, LJ Burton and wife Hope of Lynn Haven, Florida and WM Jeff Burton and wife Lynn of Royal Center.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by daughter, Bonnie Lucas, sister, Mary Smith, brothers, Herman, Fred and Virgil Worrell and son in law, Jim Warren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Dirk Raderstorf officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Indian Creek Christian Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lucerne Christian Church.
