Ann Petrie, 104, of Logansport, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven at 5:55 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor.
Born on November 28, 1911 in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Anna (Kuntz) Petrie.
She spent her entire life at her residence. She was a former member of the St. Joseph’s Parish, where she attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and graduated from St. Joseph’s Commercial School at age 15. She was employed at O’Donnell Poster Advertising as a bookkeeper and also a stenographer, Baker Specialty as a stenographer and also at Anhecier and DeHaven’s as a bookkeeper and at RBM for about 40 years.
Over the years Ann took piano lessons from Mrs. Eva Peters Reynolds, a noted musician who played at Carnegie Hall. Ann played the organ in St. Joseph’s Parish for the choir. She played for funerals and weddings. She was the pianist for the Daughters of Isabella for about 50 years. She entertained Camelot and the Neal Home, along with playing for the residents of Miller’s Merry Manor every day at lunch.
She enjoyed her family and classical music.
Ann is survived by her sister, Evelyn Dietze, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters; Mary Marocco and her husband Floyd, Florence Tobias and her husband Mark, and also Henrietta Laing and her husband Charles, one brother, John F. Petrie and his wife Helen, and brother-in-law Herman Dietze.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Dominic Petan officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel with a Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be at Mount Hope in Logansport.
Memorial Contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church.
