Barbara A. Steigely

Barbara A. “Barb” Steigely, 80 of Kewanna, passed away peacefully at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at home and is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on August 8, 1942 in La Porte, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Helen (Gilchrist) Galko.

On August 30, 1958 she married Norman Steigely. The two recently celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Barb formerly worked at US Directories, Inc. where she was Chief Financial Officer for 14 years before retiring.  She also loved flying in the company hot air balloon on many occasions.

Barb was also a dedicated homemaker.

She was a member of Kewanna United Methodist Church and a member of the UM Women.

She enjoyed tending her flowers, decorating her home and cooking. She was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, Norm Steigely of Kewanna, sons, Kenneth Steigely of La Porte and Jeffrey Steigely (Tammy) of Temecula, CA., sisters, Carol Bennett of La Porte, Peggy Elmore of Ft. Myers, FL. and Lisa West (Bob) of La Porte, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by sons, Douglas Michael Steigely and Gregory Philip Steigely and brothers, Joe and Steven Galko.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Kewanna United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the church with Rev. Todd Wilson officiating.

Graveside Services will be at 4:00 p.m. (EST) 3:00 p.m. (CST) at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte.
