Betty M. (Galbreath) Kloenne

November 8, 1933 — May 27, 2022

Logansport

Betty M. Kloenne, 88, of Logansport passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022 at home surrounded by family.

Born on November 8, 1933 in Winamac, she was the daughter of the late Chester E. and Orilla O. (Lincoln) Galbreath.

On January 16, 1953, she married Loren Paul Markley in Logansport, IN. And together they raised their four daughters, until Loren’s death on September 6, 1976. After the girls were raised, Betty met and married Robert E. “Bob” Kloenne on November 15, 1980.  He preceded her in death on December 30, 2014.

While raising her daughters, Betty worked off and on outside of the home at various factories including Rice Corporation, Bryants, and Singer Controls/Eatons. When she wasn’t working in factories, she had many hobbies that she turned into money making projects. Some of these include selling AVON, making barbie dolls clothes, and making/decorating wedding cakes. Betty made all of the clothing for herself and her children. When she wasn’t making clothing or at work, she would be outside. Betty enjoyed gardening, harvesting, and canning the produce. Betty was involved in her community through 4H Leadership, membership in the American Legion – Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the 1st Christian Church of Winamac.  In what little spare time Betty had, she enjoyed anything crafty and creative.

Betty and Bob opened a beauty and hobby shoppe in 1987. This business was known as Karen’s Tracks to Beauty and the Korner Shoppe. The hobby shoppe transformed into a bridal shoppe in the early 1990’s. Betty and Bob owned and operated Karen’s Tracks to Beauty and Korner Shoppe Bridal for 35 years before passing the business to her daughter. Betty was passionate about providing budget friendly options for all brides to be. Items and services available included: dresses for entire wedding party, tuxes, alterations, and personalized wedding accessories (flowers, cake toppers, albums, toasting glasses, unity candles, etc). Her goal was for all brides to have a beautiful wedding. Throughout her life, Betty made various contributions to the community and other organizations.

Betty led a very successful life. While she did not complete high school, she was awarded an Honorary Diploma from Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation in 2000. She received this distinguished honor for demonstrating characteristics of a lifelong learner and promoting the value of education.  Betty also instilled in her family strong work ethic, moral values, and faith in God.  Betty loved spending time with her family. Often planning and hosting various get togethers for family and friends. She touched many peoples lives and will be missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Olive “Sue” Young of Winamac, Karen Pratt of Logansport and Carol Crist of Logansport, brother, Donald Galbreath (Darlene Jaehnke), grandchildren, Pierre Young (Becky), Crystal Young, Tonia Babb (Dick), Sonia Herrick, Tracy Bobbitt (Ricky), Cassia J.
