Betty W. (Van Meter) Zimmer

Betty W. (Van Meter) Zimmer, 91, of Royal Center passed away at 10:55 a.m., Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Chase Center.

Born on March 26, 1930 in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late George and Lovie (Fiddler) Van Meter.

She was a Metea High School graduate.

On June 25, 1950 Betty married the love of her life, Louis E. Zimmer who passed away on October 23, 2013.

Betty was a house maker her entire life.  She was a member of Metea Baptist Church, and a founding member and past president of the Lamplighters Home Ec. Club.  Along with her husband, she was also a founding member of the Pioneer Pathfinders camping club in Royal Center.

Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She and Louis enjoyed taking their children on vacations and camping trips.  Spending time with her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy.

Survivors include her six children, Gary L. Zimmer (Peggy) of Rosedale, Jeffery L. Zimmer (Bobbi) of Royal Center, Linda S. Zimmer of Royal Center, Sharon L. Smith (David) of Billings, Montana, Randal D. Zimmer (Jennifer) of Winamac and Bradley A. Zimmer (Anne Haley) of Indianapolis.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Steven Gwin (Loretta), Sara Ramsey (Chris), Justin Zimmer (Erica), Cole Zimmer (Sabrina), Jacob Couch, Misty Wade (Chris), Maria Zimmer and Jordan Couch (Maria) and nine great grandchildren, Cody and Noah Gwin, Whitney and Matthew Ramsey, Asher Lyman, Braelyn Couch, Paisley Zimmer and Kason and Maverick Zimmer.

She was also preceded in death by her seven siblings, Daniel Van Meter, Martha Studebaker, Mildred Rans, Bud Van Meter, Weldon Van Meter, Ernest Van Meter and Donald Van Meter.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 13, 2021 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, Royal Center.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Burial will follow at Indian Creek Christian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Metea Baptist Church and/or the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department.
