Charlotte (Hook) Swafford

Charlotte J. Swafford, 77, of Logansport passed away peacefully at 9:45 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on August 7, 1942 in White County, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Margaret H. (Zarse) Hook.

She was a 1960 Pioneer High School graduate.

On September 24, 1960 she married the love of her life, Howard Swafford and they shared 54 years together.  He preceded her in death on March 7, 2015.

Charlotte worked as a waitress in the 70s and the early 80s.  She then took courses to become an EMT.  Charlotte worked at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester for 24 years and retired due to health reasons.  She was a kind and caring soul who would help anyone at any time.  She was always smiling but was not afraid to speak her mind either.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was a member and past president of the Kewanna VFW Ladies Aux.

Survivors include her children, Kenneth Swafford (Lori) of Kewanna, Diana Miner (Franklin) of Logansport and Karen McCollough (Loren) of Lakeville, sisters, Dorothy DeWitt of Logansport and Gwen Gore of Logansport, grandchildren, Kevin, Brandi (Dan), Nick (Ashley), Howard, Ian, Fayette and Shelby, and great grandchildren, Jaden, Jacob, Madison, Aubrey, Jayson, Elijah, Kayden, Aleah, and Natalynn.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Phil and Greg Hook.

Services will be at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Metzger Chapel, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna with Stanley Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Burial will be Grass Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley’s Children’s Hospital and/or the Kewanna VFW.
