Claudia D. Kearns, 90, of Macy, Indiana passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 15, 1933 in Highland County, Virginia, near Monterey. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Vergie (Fleisher) Carroll.
On January 26, 1952 she married Karl F. Kearns, the love of her life.
Claudia was a dedicated Civilian Employee of the Federal Government, having worked for the Navy at the Pentagon, the Army and IRS in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After 30 years of total service she retired, receiving the Army Civil Service Commendation Medal, the highest medal awarded to civilians for their service.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, painting, gardening, taking care of her flowers, hummingbirds, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Karl F. Kearns of Macy, daughters, Patricia Lynn Kearns (Buddy) of
Charlottesville, Virginia, Deborah Lynn Cogdill (Tim) of Macy and Brenda Lynn Kearns- Houchens (David) of Ruckersville, Virginia, sister, Nancy Wilkerson of Charles Town, West Virginia, grandchildren, Timothy Tate, Gennifer Willis (Shane), Michelle Cox, Candice Estrada (Erick) and Kristy Todd (Mike) and great-grandchildren, Alex Baker, Londyn Baker, Kamron Cox, Klayton Cox, Karlee Cox, Madyson Estrada and Ali Estrada.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Elwood L"Buck" Carroll.
There will be no visitation or service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, The Shriners Children's Hospital and/or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
