Darl W. Harvey

March 5, 1930 — December 15, 2015

Darl W. Harvey, 85, of Royal Center passed away at 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 5, 1930 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Ray and Jessie (Deford) Harvey.  On September 9, 1951, he married Lois M. Polen of Kewanna, she survives.

He was a 1949 Grass Creek High School graduate.

Darl was a lifelong dairy farmer retiring after 45 years. He was the last dairy farmer in operation in Harrison Township.

He was active in 4-H for the last 32 years with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, showing dairy cows. He was a 67 year member of Farm Bureau.  Darl was a member of the Rochester Swingin’ Dudes Round and Square Dance Club and traveled to many of the state conventions.

Darl being a dairy farmer, loved to mow hay. He also enjoyed all sports, especially Purdue. Spring was his favorite time of year and he enjoyed mushroom hunting with his family on the family farm in Carroll County.  Darl loved to joke and had a good sense of humor.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Harvey of Royal Center, daughter, Debra Young (Stan) of Logansport, sons, Michael Harvey (Renda) of Lucerne and Brian Harvey (Melissa) of Monticello, grandchildren, Carrie Cripe (Mike) of Royal Center, Greta Jackson (Josh) of Kewanna, Shae Kmicikewycz (Roman) of Avon, Lauren Layer (Ryan) of Monticello, Megan Lowe of Lafayette, Jordan Morrow (Jordan) of Lafayette, Kyle Harvey and Derek Berkshire both of West Lafayette, Great grandchildren, Gage, Hailey, and Addie Cripe, Isaiah, Kennedy, Braylon, and Kahlia Jackson, Bohdan and Roman Kmicikewycz, Lois, Ronnie and Garth Layer, Aiden Lowe and Ava Bell, Jagger, Jada and Julian Morrow.

He was preceded in death by brothers Dale, Bruce, Kenneth and Estel Harvey.  He was also preceded in death by infant twin brother and sister.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center with Pastor Dirk Raderstorf officiating.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Burial will be at Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to 4-H Associations, Gideon’s International and/or Lucerne Christian Church.
