Darren E. Shafer

Darren E. Shafer, 61, of Kewanna passed away at 4:25 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2023 at Hickory Creek of Rochester.

Born on June 10, 1962 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Darrell and Judy (Davis) Shafer.

He was a graduate of Highland High School in Anderson.

Darren formerly owned and operated DNR Construction Company.

He was passionate about hunting, fishing and playing his guitar.  He was an avid football fan and especially loved the Indianapolis Colts.

He loved his family and holds a special place in all our hearts.  He will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his children, Derek Shafer (Kyrsta) of Rochester, Melissa Kuhn (Todd) of Rochester, sister, Teresa Mollencupp (Ed) of Lake Bruce, grandchildren, Wesley, Xander, Kaylea, Camden, Jocelynn and Blakely, niece, Samantha Sadler (Kendall) and nephew, Kyle Mollencupp (Megan) and former spouse, Angela Shafer of Culver.  He is also survived by 3 children in Texas.

A Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Metzger Chapel, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna.

Graveside Services will be at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Lake Bruce.
