David Dean Stangle, 71, Kewanna. Dave made his final round in the field of life & went into the arms of his Savior at 6:35 AM in the Rochester Life Care Center w/his son holding his hand.
Dave was born on May 28, 1939 in Cass Co. to Cecil & Dorothy (Watson) Stangle who both preceded him in death. On March 4, 1962 Dave married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane Woodke at Helm St. Church of God in Logansport, IN. She survives.
Dave was a 1958 Star City High School graduate. A farmer all his life, Dave also had a passion for big, earth moving equipment. As a teenager Dave operated a crane & helped dredge out Lake Manitou. Dave was probably best known as the driver of a Minneapolis Moline tractor by the name of " Solid Junk". Dave was National points champion for 3 years. Dave was greatly honored to be inducted into the NTPA hall of fame in 1997.
Dave was a past supervisor of Fulton Co. Soil & Water Conservation District, a 40 plus active & faithful member of Winamac Nazarene church, Fulton Co. Historical Power Assoc., Prairie Gold Rush, IH collectors-Chapter 33, Richland Center Tractor Pullers, Indiana Pullers Inc., M & M Collectors, and a Pfister seed corn salesman for over 40 yrs.
Dave was a jack of all trades, could fix anything & tell you a joke at the drop of a hat, never met a stranger and had a true love for people. Dave truly enjoyed and thoroughly loved his family & friends, driving his decked out M&M golf cart and just enjoying the blessed life the Lord had given him. Dave was always ready with a smile.
Survived by his wife, Mary Jane of 49 years, daughter, Janie (Troy) Hattery, & their children, Dean & Melinda Hattery all of Peru, daughter, Jenny (Wade) Cohagan, & their daughter, Ellie all of Monticello, son David Cecil Stangle (Dawn) and their son David Dean Stangle and her daughters McKenna & Rebecca all of Kewanna. He is also survived by a brother Edwin (Bette) Stangle of Monticello and a sister Joan (Lester- deceased) Piercy of Mesa, AZ.
Visitation will be Mon. April 25, 2011, from 2-8 PM (EST) and 1 hour prior to the service at the Winamac Church of the Nazarene, 516 E 13th ST. (HWY 14)
Funeral will be 11 AM (EST) Tue. April 26, 2011@ the church with Rev. Daniel Burgess officiating.
Burial will be at the Bruce Lake Cemetery in rural Kewanna.
NO FLOWERS please, memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton Co. Historical Power Assoc. or the Kewanna Union Township Volunteer Fire Dept.
