Donald R. “Bob” Gunter, 83, of Logansport passed away unexpectedly at 8:38 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born on June 3, 1930 in Royal Center, he was the son of the late Andrew and Huldah (Reinholt) Gunter. On December 5, 1953 he married Mary Ellen Hurlburt who survives.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War.
Bob was formerly employed at Metal Culvert for 15 years and Wilson Foods for 23 years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, VFW Post #3790, American Legion Post #60, and a former member of the Logansport Moose. Bob enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Gunter of Logansport, son, Donald Wayne Gunter (Heather) of Lucerne, daughters; Karen Smithers of Norman, Oklahoma, Rebecca Sterling (Steve) of Royal Center, Candace Hopper (Tim) of Logansport, and Sheila Sanders (Greg) of Deland, Florida. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by brothers; Clifford Gunter, Larry Gunter, and Frances Gunter and sister, Elnora Wright.
Services with Military Rites will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at Marocco – Rans Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Payton officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
