Donald L. Woolington, 73, of Kewanna, passed away at 9:50 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at his residence.
Born November 5, 1936 in Kewanna, he was the son of the late Harold and Helen (Moon) Woolington. On March 23, 1962 he married Doris E. Walls, she survives.
He was a 1954 Kewanna High School graduate and a National Guard veteran.
He was a member of The Church of Christ in Rochester and he had also been a Kewanna Volunteer fireman for many years.
Don was a very accomplished contractor who built many commercial buildings and homes. He owned and operated Woolington Construction, Inc. since 1978 and he also formerly owned and operated Kewanna Lumber and Hardware for many years.
He enjoyed woodworking, restoration, fishing and flying when he had his pilotA�A�?A�?A�s license. Don most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Woolington of Kewanna, sons, Mark Woolington and his companion, Mona and Michael Woolington and his wife, Deb, all of Logansport and Daniel Hassenplug and his wife, Cathy of Kewanna, daughter, Karen Shank and her husband, Jim of Winamac, daughter in law, Debra Schoenherr and her husband, Jack of Warsaw, sister in law, Connie Hartman of Fulton, brother in law, Don Walls and his wife, Sharon of Argos, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by son, David Hassenplug, granddaughter, Kristen Woolington and brothers, Dean Woolington and Charles Woolington.
Services will be held at 10:30a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010 at The Church of Christ, 120 E. 5th St., Rochester.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna and also one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.
Minister Jim Dillinger will officiate and private Inurnment will be at Citizens IOOF Cemetery in Kewanna.
