Doris Susanne (Lowe) James, 69, of Logansport, Indiana, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 18, 2024, surrounded by immense warmth and love from her family. Born June 6, 1955, at Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base Hospital in Munich, Germany, Doris was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Lowe and Gertrud “Trudy” (Gunther) Rice. She moved to the United States in 1956, bringing with her a love of adventures that would define her life.

Doris's journey was one of creativity and love. She married Kenneth James on September 1, 1990, and together they created a life and home in Logansport, where they lived for over 35 years. Doris’s home was a reflection of her heart—full of creativity and the warmth of her personal interests. Doris's life was filled with a passion for crafting, gardening, reading, writing poetry and fishing. Her artistic talent was evident in her beautiful drawings and poetry. She was a wonderful artist, especially during her younger years, and found immense joy in expressing herself through various mediums. She cherished her pets, most especially her dog. Doris was deeply committed to her faith and was affiliated with Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she found community and fulfillment.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Alice Fleming; her sister and brother-in-law, Kelly (Mark) Boyd, and her grandson by marriage, Brice Zeider. She is survived by her husband, Kenny; her daughters, Susanne (Andy) Miller, and Stephanie (Chad) Fouch; her grandchildren: Bryan, Dylan, Kevan, and Megan Miller, Christian (Autumn) Steuble, Makinsey (Matthew) Calisto, Evan Long, Lindsey and Braelyn Beckman, Jason Fouch; six great-grandchildren; her siblings: Larry (Susan) Lowe, Patti (Sam) Spriggs, and Trudy (Don) Banush, Lynn (Gary) Shelmadine, Linda (John) Weed, Brenda Lowe, Danita Lowe, William “Billy” (Lisa) Lowe, Kim (Jeff) Zumwalt, Jeannie (Doug) Cade; her dear father-in-law, Donald James; daughters by marriage: Stacey Wildrick, Heather Vernego, Amanda (Kiljuan) Shepherd; grandchildren by marriage: Kane Cramer, Kohle Wildrick, Morgan, Hailey & Haiden Felton, Alexis James, Zaidyn & Zakai Shepherd; brothers-in-law: Robert James, Steve (Cathy) James, Jesse James, Andy (Tiffany) James; 5 great grandchildren by marriage, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Marocco Chapel, 119 E. Market St., Logansport. A funeral service will be held at the same location, 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, with Matthew Griner officiating. She will be laid to rest at Davis Cemetery in Burnettsville.
