Dorothy Mae (Wisely) Thompson

Dorothy Mae Thompson, 91, of Logansport formerly of Royal Center passed away at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born on July 28, 1920 in Royal Center, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Cora Mae (Holcomb) Wiseley. On March 2, 1973 she married C.W. Thompson and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1979. Dorothy was a retired school matron from Pioneer Elementary School. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Logansport where she was the former Director of Community Services. She was also a former member of Caley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking and most of all spending time with her family. Dorothy was also a loving caretaker to many friends and family. Survivors include her children, Ronnie D. Denny (Kay) of Twelve Mile, Cora Mae Bartell (Ken) of Elkhart, Carol Brewer (Keith) of Noblesville, and Malinda McManus (John) of Walton; brother, Dick Swayzee (Carol) of Phoenix, Arizona, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her extended family, Sandy Crane, Karen Hamm, Doug and Jack Grandstaff and the entire Denny family. She was also preceded in death by sons, Billy and Rocky Denny, grandchildren, Debra Bales and Kenny Brewer, brothers, Tad Hines, Mack, Myron, and Sam Swayzee, and sisters, Stella March and Irene Pickens. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2012 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastors Ron Kelly and Blake Hall officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Thompson cemetery, Royal Center.
