Dr. James J. Sullivan, 84, of Thorntown, formerly of Royal Center passed away at 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Hoosier Village in Indianapolis.
Born June 4, 1928 in Royal Center, he was the son of the late James H. and Celestie (Cheever) Sullivan. On September 27, 1954, he married Betty Jane Bronson, she survives.
He was a 1946 Royal Center High School graduate. He attended University of Miami and was a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Sullivan was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in Korea aboard the USS Ajax.
He was a Pathologist, formerly working at St. Vincent's Hospital for 28 years.
He was a member of the Royal Center Baptist Christian Church.
His hobbies included operating HAM radio and storm watching.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Sullivan of Thorntown, sons, James H. Sullivan (Lynne) of Carmel, John L. Sullivan (Luisa) of Florida and Charles B. Sullivan of Thorntown and cousins, Winifred Kosachook of New Jersey and Norman Mendenhall of Kokomo.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Henry F. Sullivan and sisters, Katherine Howe, Venus Miser, Alice Schmaltz, Mary Goodrich and Agnes Joyce Sullivan.
Services will be private. Burial will be at Royal Center Cemetery.
