Dwight H. Seagrave, 73 of Royal Center, passed away at 3:10 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2010 at his residence after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 14, 1937 at the family farm in Sycamore, he was the son of the late Howard and Anna (Klotz) Seagrave. On September 15, 1961 he married Ramona S. Morton, she survives.
Dwight was a 1955 Eastern High School graduate where he played basketball and ran cross country.
He retired from Exide in Logansport in 1999 after 27 years and he was a seasonal employee for SOHIGRO, Terra and North Central CO-OP in Lucerne for over 30 years.
He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Winamac, he was an avid fisherman and most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Ramona S. Seagrave of Royal Center, sons, Bruce Ladd of Cambridge City, Phil Ladd and wife, Kim of Lafayette and Greg Ladd and wife, Cheryl of Logansport, one brother, Larry Seagrave and wife Carolyn of Greentown, two grandchildren, Scott Ladd and wife, Sarah of Indianapolis and Cody Ladd of Chicago, one great granddaughter, Amelia Ladd, brother in laws, Mike Morton of Phoenix, Arizona and Chuck Morton and wife Velma of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and sister in laws, Nancy Heim and husband Joe of Ft. Myers, Florida and Eileen Lemons and husband Gene of Marion. He is also survived by special friends, Larry Langley of Elwood, Butch Johnson of Greentown and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by brother and sister in law, Max and Mary Seagrave.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 21, 2010 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 721 S. Market St. in Winamac.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pastors Tom Woodley and Carl Fitchett will officiate and burial will be Thompson Cemetery in Royal Center.
