Ellen M. Walsh, 94, of Kewanna passed away at 2:20 p.m., Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at Pulaski Healthcare Center in Winamac.
Born on December 5, 1925 in Hayesville, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Lemual J. and Cora A. (Long) Wagoner.
She was a graduate of Fulton High School. After meeting James Albert Walsh playing rural youth softball, they were married on June 25th, 1949. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2004.
Ellen was a homemaker and farmwife and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kewanna and the Fulton County Home-Economics Club. She enjoyed her many Euchre clubs with good friends, gardening, baking, and all the sporting activities in which she and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participated.
Ellen was a caring person that always put others first and welcomed everyone to her home with fresh baked cookies and a home cooked meal. She was the ultimate caregiver to many making sure their needs, big and small, were always met. Her sense of humor and trademark smile warmed many hearts.
Survivors include her daughter, Catherine (Ken) Ritz of Munster, sons, Daniel (Paula) Walsh of Kewanna, James (Debra) Walsh of Rochester, Michael Walsh of Highland and Kerry (Mary Beth) Walsh of Clinton. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Ellen was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Dawald, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
The family wants to thank all the wonderful people at the Pulaski Healthcare Center for welcoming and caring for her the last few months. The level of care was outstanding.
