Fay (Koenig) Pinder

December 12, 1911 — September 24, 2015

Fay Pinder, 103, of Culver formerly of Kewanna, passed away at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Millers Merry Manor in Culver.

Born on December 12, 1911 in Grass Creek, she was the daughter of the late George and Raychel (Newman) Koenig.

She was a 1929 Kewanna High School graduate.  On October 20, 1934, she married Harold Pinder.  He preceded her in death in 1982.

Fay formerly worked at the Kewanna Union Township and Fulton Schools in the cafeteria as the Head Cook. She also formerly worked at Winamac Coil Spring in Kewanna.  She was well known for the delicious pie’s she made that were served at Pinder’s Restaurant in Culver.  She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

She was a member of Grass Creek United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She also attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver.

Survivors include her sons, Ed Pinder (Lora Ann) of Culver, Richard “Dick” Pinder (June) of Crossville, Tennessee, Jerry Pinder (Bev) of Plymouth and David Pinder of South Bend. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by son, Robert W. Pinder, brothers, Floyd and Roy, sisters, Carrie, Ella, May, Rosie, Ruby, Anna and Bessie, grandchildren, Elizabeth Slocum, Deanna Hale and Kerry Pinder.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel with Pastor David Sommers officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be at Kewanna Citizens IOOF Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grass Creek United Methodist Church.
