Frances (Ash) Conrad

Frances Ellen (Ash) Conrad, 93, of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully on August 3, 2021 at Lifecare of Jacksonville Healthcare Center.

Born on April 25, 1928 in Miami County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Nora (Bishop) Ash.

On June 18, 1950 she married Joseph H. Conrad at the Corinth Brethren Church in Twelve Mile.  He preceded her in death on August 12, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Milton Ash and sister, Shirley Graham.

Frances was a graduate of Twelve Mile High School and then Indiana University School of Music where she attended on a merit scholarship. She returned to Twelve Mile to teach band for 2 years, then taught piano to students wherever in the world she lived. She also played organ for several churches.  She was kind, joyful, and dedicated to her Savior Jesus Christ and her family.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include her children, Carol Ann Chellemi (John) of St Augustine, Florida,  Kenneth Conrad (Lucy) of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Leonard Conrad (Ellen) of Stover, Missouri, and Joseph C. Conrad (Janine) of Asheboro, North Carolina.  She is also survived  by 7 grandchildren: Charlotte Ray, Ellen Borger, Christina Hardy, David Conrad, Jack Chellemi, Scott Conrad, Brian Conrad and 11 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center.  A brief graveside service to follow at Metea Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the funeral home.

Attendees at the visitation and service are encouraged to wear the color red, in honor on Frances’ favorite color.
