Frances I. Zagajewski, 93, of Logansport, formerly of Lucerne, passed away at 10:17 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Chase Center in Logansport. Born December 13, 1918 in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mildred A. (Winn) Remley. Frances was a 1936 Lucerne High School graduate. She was also a 1939 graduate of Huntington College in Huntington where she received her B.S. in Education. She was a veteran of the Women's Air Force serving in WWII. She formerly taught elementary school at Lucerne and Logansport schools, retiring in 1982 after 33 years. Frances was a member of Zion Methodist Church in Lucerne. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, a member Mary Dykeman Guild of Logansport Memorial Hospital and a charter member of Women in Military Service in Washington, D.C. Frances loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Survivors include daughter, Pamla Yocum (Pat) of Glenville, N.Y., son, J Edward Zagajewski (Nancy) of Lucerne, sister, Betty Wilson (Ralph) of Logansport, brothers, Daniel Remley (Lois) of Logansport and Charles Remley (Marlene) of Walton. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Ryan Zagajewski, Emily Zagajewski and Amy Cunningham (Ryan), one great granddaughter, Journee Cunningham and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center with Pastor Ken Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be conducted at Zion Methodist Cemetery in Lucerne.
