Frederic M. Kennell, 92, of Royal Center passed away at 11:15 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 29, 1921 in the same house that he has lived in for the last 92 years, he was the son of the late Otto and Mary (Brown) Kennell. On September 11, 1954 he married Jane Ellen Bagwell, she survives.
He was a 1939 Royal Center High School graduate.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran serving with the 381 st Bomb Squadron Group stationed in Ridgewell, England during WWII.
Fred was a lifelong farmer and always practiced good stewardship of the land. He was a member of Crooked Creek Christian Church where he faithfully served his Lord. He taught sunday school and served as Deacon, Trustee and Treasurer. Fred was a 57 year member of the Royal Center Lions Club, he was a Director of Community State Bank from 1970 to 1992 and he served on the Soil and Water Board for several years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed all music especially Southern Gospel and Boots Randolph.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Kennell of Royal Center, sons, Noel Kennell (Gina), Craig Kennell (Kathy), David Kennell (Candis) all of Royal Center and Scott Kennell (Sherry) of Greenwood, daughter, Jill Struckholz (Robert) of Ft. Wayne, grandchildren, Cory Kennell, Kyle Kennell, Adam Kennell, Ashley McDonald, Taylor Kennell, Wesley Kennell, Kelcey Kennell and Megan Struckholz, and step grandson, Brandon Draper. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Keith Kennell and sister, Lucille Coleman.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Crooked Creek Christian Church with Pastor Scott Ellison, Stan Ide and Mike Fields officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Burial with military rites will be performed at Crooked Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice and/or Crooked Creek Christian Church.
