Frederick Eli Blickenstaff, 74, of Royal Center passed away peacefully at 6:58 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2015 at his residence.

Born on October 24, 1941 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Eugene Frederick and Wilda Aileen “Polly” (Druley) Blickenstaff.

He was a 1959 Royal Center High School graduate.  Fred was also a U.S. Navy veteran.

On September 2, 1962 he married Rita Janet Shoaf, she survives.

He retired in 2005 from the Logansport State Hospital where he was employed for over 30 years.  He also formerly owned and operated Ma and Pa’s Hometown Restaurant in Royal Center for several years.

Fred was a member of Bell Center Bible Church where he formerly served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.  He was also very active in Amazing Grace Missions and was a member of the American Legion.  Fred enjoyed reading, gardening, watching golf and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Janet Blickenstaff of Royal Center, daughter, Susie Jones (Glen) of Burnettsville, sons, Kenith Adam Blickenstaff (Tiffaney) and Karl Ryan Blickenstaff of Royal Center, brother, Allen Blickenstaff (Cheryl) of Logansport, sisters, Nancy Taylor (Don) of Royal Center and Shirley Jackson (Jim) of Royal Center and step sister, Carla Hartman of Tennessee.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with 1 on the way.

He was also preceded in death by son, John Frederick “Jack” Blickenstaff and sisters, Joyce Campbell and Janet Shoaf.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Ed Roller officiating.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the funeral home.

Burial with military rites will be performed at Thompson Cemetery with his grandson, Eli playing Taps.
