Gary Spencer, 71 of Logansport passed away at 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis surrounded by his family.
Born December 15, 1942 in Cass County, he was the son of the late George and Elda (Kinnaman) Spencer. On November 26, 1961, he married Nancy Davidson, she survives.
He was a 1961 Royal Center High School graduate.
Gary retired from Wilson Foods in Logansport in 1993 after 24 years and from Federal Mogul in 2004 after 10 years. He was also a farmer.
He was a member of Webb Chapel United Methodist Church and former member of the Royal Center Lions. He was also a former Cass County 4-H Fair Board Member and a former 4-H Leader.
He and Nancy enjoyed wintering in Florida with their friends.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Spencer of Logansport, sons, Brian Spencer (Leanne) of Lafayette and Gary A. Spencer (Vicki) of Lizton, daughter, Kristy Rance (David) of Royal Center, brother, Jerry Spencer (Susan) of Logansport and sister in law, Dee Spencer of Royal Center. He is also survived by grandchildren, Christopher Jackson, Austin Spencer and Anna Spencer, Marisa Rance, Dylan Rance and Elizabeth Rance.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Terry Spencer.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2014 at Harrison Metzger Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center with Pastor Bill Bergstrom officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the funeral home and also one hour before the time of service on Monday.
Burial will be at Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to Webb Chapel Building Fund and/or Cass County 4-H Association.
