Harley E. Perkins, 90, of Royal Center passed away at 4:59 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at his residence.
Born on August 28, 1920 in Long Pine, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Earl and Elva (Baker) Perkins.
He was a 1938 graduate of Hamburg High School in Iowa and he was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran.
Harley had been a farmer, carpenter and millwright. He also formerly owned and operated Perkins Construction Company and Perkins Rentals.
He was a 50 year member of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge 585, Scottish Rite and a was a former member of the Logansport Eagles. Harley enjoyed hunting mushrooms, fishing, collecting and working on firearms and he was an avid hunter.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda Cochran and her husband Robert of Royal Center, grandchildren, Wendy Tarlton and her husband Dave of Garrett, Michelle Carrier and her husband Brad of Logansport, Brian Cochran and his wife Carmelita of Rochester, great grandchildren, Joshua Barron of Royal Center, Christina Ream of Lafayette and Lindsay Ransbottom of Garrett, 2 great great grandchildren and special friend, Katrina McKim of Royal Center.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Carl Perkins.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Richard Byers officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Royal Center Masonic Lodge 585 and/or OneA�A�?A�?A�s favorite charity.
