Harvey A. Scheffer, 62, of Winamac passed away at 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at his residence.
Born on August 7, 1953, he was the son of Melvin Scheffer and Julia (Johnson) Turnpaugh. On July 27, 1974, he married Jane A. Fisher. She survives.
Harvey was a self-employed truck driver and he was also a farmer. He formerly worked at CFS.
He was a former member of Eagles Lodge #2580 in Winamac.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Scheffer of Winamac, son, Matthew Scheffer (Natasha) of Winamac, daughters, Rachel Scheffer of Star City and Laura Beth Scheffer of Europe, mother, Julia Turnpaugh (Tom) of Onward, brother, Roy Dean Turnpaugh of Peru, sister, Penny Crissinger (John) of Winamac, brother in law, Don Fisher (Janet) of Winamac and sister in law, Pam Olson (Gordon) of Valparaiso. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Zach, Tiffany, Jacob, Matthew, Harvey Michael, Olivia and Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Arthur Scheffer.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel.
