Helen Jean (Sterrett) Mendenhall, 94, of Logansport passed away at 9:55 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Woodbridge Heath Campus.
Born on March 31, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Vance and Helen Sterrett.
In 1951 she married Robert Mendenhall at Camp Atterbury with a military wedding complete with crossed rifles and bayonets as they emerged from the chapel.
Helen formerly worked for many years at Courier/Newson Trucking Company in Logansport and was also a homemaker.
She loved to travel and visited 49 states including Alaska, Mexico, all of Canada and many European countries. Helen also enjoyed going on cruises and spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Logansport since 1963 where she also volunteered in many ministries.
Survivors include her son, Kevin Mendenhall of Birmingham, Alabama, grandchildren, Jason Gordon, Evan Gordon, and Monica (Mendenhall) Northcutt and great grandchildren, Xavier and Jaxson Gordon, and Finn Gordon.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Mendenhall and daughter, Kelly Mendenhall Franklin.
Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Logansport.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Robert and Helen Jean Mendenhall.
