Irene Hoagland

January 3, 1940 — July 5, 2009

Irene Hoagland, 69, of Logansport passed away at 8:00 p.m. Sunday July 5, 2009 in her residence.

Born on January 3, 1940 on the island of Amrum, Germany in the North Sea. She was the daughter of the late John Karl and Johanna Karoline (Kaiser) Schmidt.

A�Irene came to the United States on April 5, 1956 with her twin sister.

A longtime Logansport resident, Irene is survived by her twin sister, Marrett Kaschlaw of Lakewood, N.J., six children, Jack Hoagland, Jr. and wife Barb, Columbus OH., Robert Hoagland and wife Teresa, of Cape Coral, FL., Jeff Hoagland and wife LaKay, Highlands Ranch, CO., Mareiann Birnell, Logansport, Margaret Jester and husband Les of Logansport and Caroline Palmer of Denver, Co. Irene is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-granchildren.

A�Irene was extremely proud to be a U.S. citizen while living in Logansport. She enjoyed sharing her German heritage with her many friends, making raspberry jelly, attending the Indianapolis 500 and Colts football games. She will be remembered for her smiling face and personality while working at The County Home, bartending at the Fireside Restaurant and Lounge, and T.J.chr(39)S Lounge at the Holiday Inn. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Schmidt, one son in law, Jim Birnell, and one grandson Matthew Hoagland.

A�Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday July 18, 2009 at Marocco Funeral Chapel with a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m.

A�A celebration of life will then follow at the Fireside Restaurant and Lounge. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Walton Area Community Ministry.
