Jack A. Pentland

February 22, 1947 — January 11, 2014

Jack A. Pentland, 66, of Royal Center passed away at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born on February 22, 1947 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Welcher) Pentland. On January 29, 1971 he married Sue Perkins, she survives.

He was a 1966 Northwestern High School graduate. Jack was also a U.S. Army veteran, 101st Airborne who served in the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He was an Airborne Ranger who had 52 Parachute Jumps and he was also a Master Blaster.

Jack was a farmer and was also formerly employed at GM in Kokomo for 11 years. He was a member of Baptist Christian Church.

Jack enjoyed his miniature donkeys, sitting on his porch and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Pentland of Royal Center, son, Scott Pentland (Penny) of Monticello, daughter, Jody Frank (Jeff) of Logansport, brother, John Pentland (Lori) of Kokomo, grandchildren, TJ Pentland (Stephanie) of Royal Center, Nichol Bonnell of Indianapolis, Troy Pentland of Monticello, Jessica Bonnell and Ashley Bonnell both of Royal Center and great grandchildren, Coy Pentland and Isabelle Bonnell.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Richard Utterback officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the funeral home.

Burial with Military Rites will be performed at Ever Rest Memorial Park.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Baptist Christian Church.
