James J. Bridge

Services for James J. Bridge, 82 of Logansport formerly of Royal Center will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center.

He passed away at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the McKinney House in Logansport.

Born on July 18, 1927 in Monticello, he was the son of the late Harry and Gavis (Baer) Bridge. On November 5, 1954 he married Carol Sue Kirkpatrick and she preceded him in death on February 21, 1968.

He was a 1945 Royal Center High School Graduate and WWII U.S. Army Veteran.

Jim was a Dairy Farmer retiring in 1975. He also worked for the Cass County Highway Dept. where he retired in 1995.

Jim was an avid Chicago Cub and I.U. fan and he enjoyed mushroom hunting, treasure and milk bottle collecting and going to auctions.

Surviving are sons, Ernie L. Bridge and wife Vickie and Harry A. Bridge and wife Deb, both of Royal Center, Stephen Elliott of St. Augustine, Florida and Stuart Elliott of Urbana, Indiana, daughters, Cathy Redmon and husband, Bob of Arizona and Barbara Fleckenstein and husband, Larry of Lafayette, Deborah Strange and husband Art of Oak Hill, Virginia and Pamela Ford and husband Keith of Roann, brother, Robert Bridge and wife Carol of Rochester and sister, Kay Humphrey and husband Bob of Zionsville, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Marjorie Leona Bridge who preceded him in death on December 3, 2007 and brother, Dudley Bridge.

Dr. James Elliott will officiate at the services and burial with military rites will be performed at Kistler Cemetery in Royal Center.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2009 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel.
