James A. Collins, 93, of Chelsea, MI. formerly of Kewanna, IN. and Navarre, FL., passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Chelsea Retirement Community.
Born April 13, 1921 in Kewanna, he was the son of the late Clyde S. and Clara H. (Olsen) Collins. On May 3, 1941, he married Blanche J. Gidley. She preceded him in death on September 10, 2007.
He graduated fromKewanna High School and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He was also a graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Mr. Collins was a veteran of WWII and retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was then employed at a Technical Institute in South Carolina as a teacher and administrator.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Survivors include son, K. Max Collins of Fredericksburg, VA., daughter, Mary E. Collins of Pensacola, FL. and 4 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by son, Larry Collins and twin daughters.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Citizens IOOF Cemetery in Kewanna.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
