 Jan C. Ray passed away peacefully at Monticello Healthcare on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Jan was born on April 3, 1937 to Lewis E. Ray, II and Wilda (Zook) Ray Campbell. He graduated from Royal Center High School in 1955. After he graduated, he took a short course in Agriculture from Purdue University.

He farmed for many years and then worked for North Central Coop. After high school, he was also in the National Guard located in Monticello.

On November 28, 1959, he married Leona V. Sell at Shiloh Christian Church. They had two daughters Teresa Ray, Monticello and Angela (Jeff) Alexander, Monticello. They were also blessed with two grandsons, Tanner Alexander, Lafayette and Nicholas Alexander, Monticello.

Jan was a member and regular attendee of Monticello Christian Church. At church, he served on the Outdoor Committee. He also served on the Board of Trustees for Carroll-White REMC, where he was involved in Operation Roundup.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling. They spent many spring breaks with their daughters and their friends at Jetty East in Destin, Florida. They also took several bus trips throughout the United States and Canada. Jan enjoyed playing Euchre. He and his wife were members of a Cousin’s Euchre Club for over 50 years. Jan was actively involved in the Cass Township 4-H as a leader and member of the White County Beef Committee. 

Jan loved spending time with his grandchildren. He attended their sporting events throughout the years. He liked to play board games.

Other survivors include brothers Dale Ray, St. Joseph, Michigan and William (Connie) Campbell, Bringhurst, Indiana. Preceding him in death was a brother, Lewis E. Ray, III and a sister-in-law Edna M. Ray, Perrysburg, Ohio as well as his parents and grandparents. Other survivors are many nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to give a special thanks to their neighbors, Heart to Heart Hospice, and the Buffalo Fire Department for all their assistance the past few weeks. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Monticello Christian Church. Services will be held at Rans Funeral Home in Royal Center, Indiana. Funeral service will take place on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 9:00 until the time of service. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport.
