Janice Elanor Lane, a loving and optimistic woman known for her intelligence and nurturing spirit, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023, in Fort Wayne, IN. Born to Rosalie and Don Krathwohl on January 31, 1961, in Logansport, IN, Janice was a beacon of light and love to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Janice attended Ivy Tech, where she trained to be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Her dedication to helping others was evident in her career choice. She was a woman who found joy in caring for others, a trait that extended beyond her professional life and into her personal one. She was the kind of person who wanted to be a mom to everyone around her, offering comfort, support, and a listening ear to anyone in need.

A lover of life and learning, Janice had an impressive range of interests. She was a formidable Jeopardy and crossword puzzle enthusiast, often impressing friends and family with her quick wit and vast knowledge. Janice also had a knack for crafts, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. Her love for cooking and baking was legendary, with her delicious dishes bringing joy to many family gatherings.

Janice had a deep love for nature, evident in her enjoyment of houseplants and her fondness for elephants and turtles. Her home was a sanctuary filled with greenery, where she nurtured her plants with the same love and care she extended to her family and friends.

Janice is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Crystal M. Mackey, her sons, Joseph P. Mackey and David A. Mackey, and her grandson, Hayden J. Mackey. She also leaves behind her mother, Rosalie Klotz, and her sisters, Jayne Baber (Bob) and Joyce Gebhardt and a host of nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her father Donald Krathwohl, beloved husband, Stephen Paul Mackey, her brother Joseph Edward Krathwohl, and her sister Jeri Elaine Bonnell.

Janice's life was a testament to her loving, optimistic, and intelligent nature. She touched countless lives with her kindness, her warmth, and her unwavering positivity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.

Her family and friends will remember Janice as a woman who lived her life with grace, kindness, and a deep love for those around her. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide them, reminding them of the power of love, the joy of learning, and the beauty of nature.

A Celebration of Life for Janice will be held at Marocco - Rans Funeral Chapel in Logansport, Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 4:00pm with Pastor Doug Thomas officiation from Main Street United Methodist Church. Friends and Family may gather from 2-4pm prior to the service.
