Jeannetta M. Shafer, 94, of Provo, Utah, formerly of Lucerne and Rochester, passed away at 9:30 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2012. Born December 10, 1917 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Emmett O. and Beatrice G. (McClellan) Day. On August 27, 1939, she married Carl Dean Shafer and he preceded in death in 1994. She was a 1936 Star City High School graduate and a graduate of Logansport Business College. Mrs. Shafer was a former agent for the Fulton County Agricultural Stabilization Committee. She was a member of Zion Methodist Church in Lucerne. Survivors include her daughter, LeAnn Shafer Eliason of Provo, Utah, sons, Steven C. Shafer of Wheat Ridge, Colorado and James M. Shafer of Black Hawk, Colorado. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Geneva Day Shafer in 2004 and brothers, Wayne Day in 1991 and Melbourne Day in 1965. Private services and burial will be held at Zion Methodist Cemetery at a later date.
