Jeffrey D. Schnepp

July 4, 1951 — November 7, 2024

Royal Center

Jeffrey D. Schnepp, 73 of Royal Center passed away at 1:28 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Jeffrey struggled with diabetes for over twenty five years. Which led to heart surgery, multiple amputations, and a kidney transplant. Given everything he went through, he kept his head held high. He truly was an inspiration to us all.

Born on July 4, 1951 in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Joe and Ruth (McGuire) Schnepp. He was a 1969 Delphi High School graduate. The Schnepp family as a whole pioneered their way into the Carroll County community.

On October 25, 1975 he married Jane A. Young. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2009.

He began his career in Law Enforcement as a Cass County Deputy Reserve from 1980 until 1985. He then worked as a deputy in Carroll County from 1985-1986. After completing his training at The Police Academy, Jeff became a deputy in 1987 for the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. After 25 years of service, Jeff retired from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department in 2010. In addition to his service, Jeff was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He also worked at Sears, as a security guard for various organizations, and was a part time deputy in Royal Center in his off time.

His career filled him with great pride. Jeff’s work ethic and supporting his law enforcement brothers came naturally. He was always helping others on his own time.

Jeff had a passion for football that began in his teens. He formerly played semi pro football for the Logansport Lancers sporting #73 and eventually, passing on the #73 jersey to his sons.

Jeff was also a big fan of Western shows, specifically ones with John Wayne. He was a Dodge/Mopar enthusiast and in his spare time Jeff had collected many vintage cars, winning multiple awards at car shows. Jeff was also an Indiana Hoosier Basketball fan. He also rooted for the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts during football season.

Jeff is survived by his children, Jacquelynn Schnepp of Logansport, Jennifer (John) Hatch of Tennessee, and James Schnepp of Logansport, brothers, Steven (Debra) Schnepp of Burlington, and Michael (Dorothy) Schnepp of Alabama; five grandchildren, Caitlyn Hare, Cameron Hare, Evan Crowel, Owen (Jordyn) Crowel , and Joslyn Schnepp and one great grandson, Hayes Crowel. As well as, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved hot rod AAR CUDA.

He was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.
