JoEllen Hempker, 70, of Logansport passed away peacefully at 12:05 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Millers Merry Manor.
Born on October 16, 1946 in Lucerne, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Myrtle (Shaw) Cook.
JoEllen was a 1964 Pioneer High School graduate.
She was a supervisor at the Logansport State Hospital and retired after 31 years.
JoEllen was a member of Cross Wind United Methodist Church and she enjoyed shopping, crafts, crocheting, decorating for the holidays and spending time in Branson. JoEllen especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and taking them on trips over the years.
Survivors include her sisters, Trish Grauel of Logansport, Lois Coffman of Logansport and Becky Silance (Darrell) of Logansport and nieces and nephews, Carol Stumpf (John) of Greenwood, Terry Silance (Manoush) of California, Nita Emmerd (Charles) of Logansport, Shawna Scherwing (Scott) of Tucson, Arizona, Kevin Grauel of Logansport, Mark Kistler of Logansport, Barbara Taylor of Logansport, and Allison Andersen (Rick) of Valparaiso.
She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Kloenne and James Mays, brother, William Cook, nephew, Chuck Kistler and brothers in law, Ernest “Bus” Grauel and Glenn Coffman.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel with Pastor Nick Robinson officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
