John M. Brandt

April 3, 1950 — September 26, 2020

Logansport

John Max Brandt, 70, of Logansport passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2020 at his home. John loved the Lord and knew that to be absent from the body was to be present with the Lord. He loved people and never knew a stranger.

Born on April 3, 1950, to Max Ernest Brandt and Anna (Paschen) Brandt in Logansport, John is survived by four sisters, Barrie (Rich) McClain, Cris (Ken) Cookerly, Connie (Mark) English, and Jan (Dave) Packard and ten nieces and nephews, Jeff McClain, Nathan (Star) McClain, Tony (Jessica) Cookerly, Jason Cookerly, Kim (Chris Stienbarger) English, Stacy English, Sarah (Chase) Benton, Audrey (Tyler) Russell, Emma Packard, and Elliott Packard.

John served as Elder and Trustee of Lucerne Christian Church in Lucerne. He was active in the Lucerne Lions Club. He served in the Air Force Reserves from 1973-1978. He had many friends, but a special friend, Sabrina Good.

He graduated from Pioneer Jr Sr High School and Purdue University and began his working career teaching math at Pioneer. He went on to Chicago as a public school teacher and there changed careers to construction. He loved working with wood and did beautiful work renewing old homes to make them look better than they ever did. He changed location back to his hometown and continued in construction, and was still working on a project to finish an apartment over a garage when he passed.

John knew every inch of Ridgeview Lake and could catch fish when nobody else could. He took many people fishing and was convinced that it did not require silence to catch fish. Kids wiggling and talking on the boat would not be a problem.
