Joseph E. Swisher

Joseph E. Swisher, 66 of Logansport passed away at 2:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his residence.
Born September 25, 1944 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Richard E. Swisher and Elizabeth J. (Huffman) Swisher. On January 1, 1981, he married Elaine A. Randall, she survives.
He was a 1962 Royal Center High School graduate.
Joe retired from Nipsco after 30 years where he worked as a Construction Supervisor. He also worked as a delivery driver for Dexter Pharmacy for 11 years.
He was a Benefactor Member of the NRA, Fulton County Gun Club and a member of Sons of the American Legion of Logansport. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting and mushroom hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Swisher of Logansport, son, Matthew J. Swisher and wife Katya of Fulton, step daughter, Tara P. McVay and husband, Randy of Macy, mother, Elizabeth Swisher of Logansport, and grandchildren, Harley Alan McVay, Hannah Nichole McVay and Waylon Joseph Swisher, sisters, Deitra Spencer of Royal Center, Deb Pittman and husband, Rex of Ocala, Florida and Diane Zeider and husband, Chuck of Logansport and brother in law, Ross Randall and wife, Joyce of Logansport. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by brother, John Swisher and brother in law, Terry Spencer.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel.
Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 7 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the time of service on Sunday.
Burial will be at Kistler Cemetery in Royal Center.
