Juanita S. Johnson

Juanita S. Johnson, 71, of Kewanna passed away at 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 24, 1942 in Vanceburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Burdick and Catherine (Rurak) Hughes. On January 31, 1958, she married Frank H. Johnson. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2012.

Juanita formerly worked at Federal Mogul in Leiters Ford for more than 20 years. She also formerly worked at Abie's Market in Kewanna and Braun's in Leiters Ford.

She enjoyed taking care of flowers, quilting and shopping. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Sheila G. Seidel (Allen) of Winamac, Donna A. Dugan (Robert Rans) of Kewanna, Julia F. Brainerd of Warsaw and Frank H. Johnson (Wendi) of Rensselaer, brothers, Meredith Hughes of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Ronnie Hughes of Melbourne, Kentucky, Douglas Hughes of Butler, Ohio, sisters, Ethel Sullivan of Garrison, Kentucky, Wanda Edington of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Mattie K. Barbour of Maysville, Kentucky, Barbara Hughes of Vanceburg and Brenda Rand of Norwood, Ohio. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Hope, Jessica, Gavin, Brock, Bobby, Peggy Sue, David, Brenna and Holly and great grandchildren, Kennedy, Graysen, Jackson, Alli, Alexis, Kylie, Aubrie, Carter, Laynie, Kailee and Paisley. She is also survived by her beloved dog, P.J.

She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Richard Brainerd, grandson, Tavin and brothers William Hughes and George Hughes.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel with Chaplain Jason See officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Bruce Lake Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association and/or Hope Hospice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Kewanna Chapel.
