Julia A. Laing

September 15, 1906 — April 1, 2012

Julia A. Laing, 105, of Logansport passed away at 3:29 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on September 15, 1906 in Brooklyn New York, she came to Logansport when she was three years old to be adopted by Louis and Jennie Marter. In 1930 she married Harry Laing and he preceded her in death in 1940.

Julia attended St. Vincent's Parochial School, Holy Angels Academy and she later graduated from Mount Carmel School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio in 1927 as a registered nurse.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

She retired as an RN from the former St. Joseph Hospital in 1975 where she worked in the OB and Geriatrics Departments.

Julia enjoyed dancing, knitting, crocheting, traveling, fishing, and after her retirement she took up golf and pool. She always had several cats that she loved dearly.

Survivors include her children, Michael Laing and wife Sue of Norman, Oklahoma and daughter-in-law Jerry Laing of Logansport, Sheila Laing of Logansport. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her children, Thomas and James Laing and Peg Alderson, grandsons, Scott and Mark Laing.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday April 6, 2012, at Marocco ' Rans Funeral Chapel with Father Donald Eder officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday April 5, 2012 at the funeral home where there will also be a scripture service at 3:30 p.m.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
