Larry Lee Leasure, 70 of Kewanna, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Yellow Rose Hospice Unit at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born January 30, 1940 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Herold and Vivian (Scott) Leasure. On January 7, 1961 he was married in Star City to (Mary) Linda Markley, she survives.
He was a 1958 Star City High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1958-1961 as vehicle mechanic and later as a medic.
Larry formerly worked as a heavy equipment operator for Lebo and Markley in Winamac. He also worked at Tee-Pak in Winamac. He retired as a computerized numerical control machinist for Fulton Industries in Rochester.
Fishing was LarryAA?A?As passion and was an activity he pursued almost daily, all year round. He was a self-taught naturalist (a very good one), a gardener and was AA?AA...?grounds keeperAA?Ai at home and sometimes beyond. He loved vacationing in the Caribbean, especially on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, but traveled to other locales as long as the destination was in a natural setting, not a city. He enjoyed meeting with his buddies for coffee at 4:30 a.m. daily. He was loved for his quirky sense of humor and his generous nature. He viewed every day as an added bonus and lived his life with a continuing sense of gratitude after having undergone kidney failure and an organ transplant in December 1988.
Larry was a member of Star City United Methodist Church, Amalgamated Meat Packers Union, V.F.W. Post 1121 in Kewanna and National Wildlife Federation.
Survivors include his wife, (Mary) Linda Leasure of Kewanna, son, Michael L. Leasure of Battleground, IN., daughter, Trudy L. Southe and her husband Ed of Plymouth, grandchildren, Gregory D. and Erik L. Gottschalk and Skye L. Leasure.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Joan Warner, Maxine Hessong and Monna Lou Brincefield.
