Leaetta J. (Vernon) Douglas

June 12, 1935 — April 17, 2014

Leaetta J. Douglas, 78, of Royal Center passed away unexpectedly at 12:50 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 12, 1935 in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Geneva (Schreckenghaust) Vernon.  On June 28, 1953 she married Charles L. Douglas.  He preceded her in death on April 30, 2007.

She was a 1953 Royal Center High School graduate.

Leaetta retired from Knebel Insurance in Royal Center after many years in the office.  She also worked part time at the Royal Center Town Hall office.

She was a member of Crooked Creek Christian Church where she also taught Sunday School.  Leaetta was also a member of the Royal Center Pythian Sisters and she volunteered at the Salvation Army.  She enjoyed drinking coffee and spending time with friends but most of all she loved spending time her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Douglas (Jan) of Peru, granddaughter, Sabrina Stackhouse (Ryan) and their daughter, Sadie Stackhouse all of Fishers, grandson, Blake Douglas (fiancé, Ashley Black) of Indianapolis, and special friends, Don and Darlene Kerr and family.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Chaplain Scott Ellison officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2014 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crooked Creek Christian Church.
