Leonard Earl McIntire, 91 of Crawfordville, Florida (formerly from Indiana) passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Born on August 14, 1933, in Fulton County, Indiana he was the youngest of 6 children of the late Oval and Mary Mildred (Craig) McIntire.

On January 11, 1957, he married Jane Anne Willoughby, in Muncie, Indiana.

Leonard enlisted in the US Army in 1953 and severed as Specialist 4th Class in the 2nd Armored Division (Hell on Wheels). Leonard was Honorably Discharged on December 1st, 1961.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1961 from Ball State Teachers College, Muncie, Indiana. He later received his master’s degree in education in 1967 from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. He also received his Administrator’s License from Purdue University in 1978.

Leonard had a very long career in the educational field. He held numerous teaching, coaching and Administrative positions for various school districts in Indiana including Kewanna, Rochester, Culver, Delphi, Carroll, River Forrest and Peru. After 33 years in the education field, Leonard retired in 1995. He touched many students lives throughout the years. He enjoyed camping, gardening, playing cards, fishing, watching IU basketball & Atlanta Braves baseball, eating fried oysters and taking golf cart rides around the neighborhood. Above all else family was his priority. His wife, Jane, was his soulmate and they are both now hand in hand once again.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 67 years, Jane Anne McIntire. Survivors include sons, Rick McIntire of Crawfordville, Florida and Daniel McIntire (Genevieve) of Medford, New Jersey, daughter, Jan Wilson (Darrin) of Nelson, Wisconsin. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Ryan Dickinson (April) of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Wesley Dickinson (Kaila) of Brownsburg, Indiana, Brittany Morgan (Sam) of Seattle, Washington, Alec McIntire of Shamong, New Jersey, Evan McIntire of Charleston, South Carolina, Gianna McIntire of Shamong, New Jersey and Ethan McIntire of Medford, New Jersey and 7 great-grandchildren, Chandler, Conner, Kinley, Piper Jane, Skylar, Alden and Henry.

Services honoring the life of Leonard Earl McIntire will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Metzger Chapel, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial with military rites will follow at Citizens I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Kewanna.
