Leonard W. Newport, Sr

Services for Leonard W. Newport, Sr., 69, of Kokomo will be held at 11 a.m., Friday in Marocco Funeral Chapel.
He died at 7:08 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2007 in Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo.
Born May 15, 1937, in Logansport, he was the son of Vernon and Ethel (Kistler) Newport. He was married May 4, 1956 to Shirley A. Marlatt, who survives.
A graduate of Metea High School, he was an electrician at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo for 27 years, retiring in 1997.
Mr. Newport belonged to the UAW Local 685 and enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He also umpired softball games and genealogy was one of his hobbies.
Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Leonard W. Newport, Jr., Logansport, and Kevin Newport, Kokomo; one daughter, Patricia Osgood, Denver; daughter-in-law, Virginia Stamper Newport, Berne; one brother, Thomas Newport & his wife Kathy, Walton; grandchildren, Tuesday Mock, Decator, MI.; Stephanie Meek, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Steve Schoenradt, Richmond; Angela Hunt, Atlanta, GA.; Amber Russell and Brent Newport, both of Berne and Deanna Brummet, Logansport; several nieces and nephews.
One son, Jeffrey, preceded in death.
Pastor Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral chapel.
