Leroy W. Weaver, 95, of Logansport formerly of Lucerne passed away at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his residence.
Born on May 18, 1915 in Cass County, he was the son of the late William J. and Margaret (Frushour) Weaver. On October 12, 1940 he married Ruth I. Wilson and she preceded him in death on August 10, 1981.
Leroy was a 1934 Lucerne High School graduate. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in England and France.
Leroy was a crew-caller and hauler for Conrail Railroad in Logansport where in retired in 1975. He was also a retired Harrison Twp. Farmer.
He was a former member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lucerne and he attended All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport. Leroy was also a member of the V.F.W. 3790, American Legion 60, Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Logansport Elks and Eagles. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards.
Survivors include his children, Mary Ann Hardy of Ft. Wayne, Linda Kay Ashburn and husband Leonard of Indianapolis, Carolyn Sue Cox and husband Michael of Logansport, David E. Weaver and wife Nelita, and Richard J. Weaver and wife Sue all of Monticello, daughter in law, Norma Weaver of Indianapolis, 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by daughters, Susan and Shirley Weaver, son, William T. Weaver, brothers, Leo and John Weaver and sisters, Eileen Fahler and Edith Wilson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24, 2010 at All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel where there will also be a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial with Military Rites will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Logansport.
