Our world changed forever on Thursday, January 6th, 2022. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, Loa L. (Fry) Baer, formerly of Royal Center, passed away peacefully at her residence in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was 86 years young. Loa was born to the late Ruth Leota (Nickels) and Harvey Allen Fry on February 14, 1935. She graduated from Royal Center High School in 1953. Loa married the love of her life, Jack E. Baer, on May 30th, 1953. Jack preceded her in death on April 8th, 2019.
Loa worked hard her entire life. She spent her early years working at Moser’s Drug Store where she made many pineapple shakes for her then sweetheart, Jack. She also worked at the Royal Center Dime Store. Her later years were spent working at the Community State Bank. She worked as a bookkeeper and over the years worked her way to head teller. She retired from the bank in 1995 to become a full-time grandma. She loved her CSB family and shared many fond memories of her time there. After retirement, Loa enjoyed taking family vacations and spending time with Andrew. Her greatest and most rewarding job in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the best!
She is survived by her son Bradley A. Baer (Carol) of Branson, Missouri, her daughter Bobbi Sue Hall (Christopher) of Chesterton, daughter-in-law Kimberly Baer of Chesterton, granddaughter Jessica Nelson (Jacob) of Evansville, granddaughter Lisa Whitford (Ken) of Branson, Missouri, grandson (and other love of her life) Andrew Hall (Katie) of Chesterton, great grandson Zack Conlon of Evansville, soon to arrive great grandson Maddux Hall of Chesterton, and her amazing nieces and nephews.
Loa was also preceded in death by her oldest son, Dr. Dirk Baer, two brothers, Red Thompson and Richard Fry, and two sisters, Ann Kroeger and Renee Smith.
Out of concern for the health of our family and dear friends, private family services are being held.
Loa will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Jack at the Royal Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Baptist Christian Church in memory of Loa. Loa and Jack were married in the original church building and were members there until their deaths. The church is located at 313 S. Chicago St., Royal Center, Indiana 46978.
