Margaret C. (Claiborne) Belcher

June 10, 1924 — April 12, 2021

Twelve Mile

Margaret C. Belcher, 96, of Twelve Mile passed away at 2:28 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2021 at Logansport Memorial Hospital in Logansport.

Born on June 10, 1924 in Lafollette, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Eva (Bailey) Claiborne.

On September 8, 1953 she married Jack Belcher.  He preceded her in death on February 19, 2007.

Margaret had formerly worked at RBM, Holiday Inn, Cracker Barrell, and Kaufman Engineering.

She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was previously a member of Twelve Mile United Methodist Church. Margaret came into this world as the oldest and the smallest but was born with a big heart full of compassion, love, and always being there for you. She never met a stranger. Everyone that knew her loved her, knowing that she would do anything to help you. Being the oldest of seven, she started working at a very young age. She worked hard all her life, but with no complaints, she loved it. Most remember her for her cooking. She loved to cook, and with her southern hospitality she was always wanting to fix someone a home cooked meal, such as her famous biscuits and gravy. She also loved gardening and canning. She loved to go back to Tennessee and visit her homeplace and see the memories of her life. Family was the most important to her, and they always came first. But now she is with her greatest love Jesus Christ, our lord and savior. She is now smiling in heaven above, and with her family where she wanted to be.

Survivors include her daughter, Kay Denny (Ronnie) of Twelve Mile, grandchildren, Rob Denny of Logansport and Krissy Denny of Logansport and great grandchildren, Lane Denny, Ethan Denny, and Mikayla Rogers.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews that she considered all her children.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, James, John and Robert Claiborne and sisters, Marie Talley, Lilly Mae Claiborne and Shirley Claiborne, and her beloved dog, Cindy.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor and the staff at Logansport Memorial for the compassionate care.
