Marvin D. Engle, 85, of Kewanna passed away at 10:27 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2011 at his residence.
Born December 17, 1925 in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late Dale L. and Cleo (Sanders) Engle. On November 4, 1950, he married Mildred M. Easterday at the Grass Creek United Methodist Church parsonage. She survives.
He was a 1944 Indiana Harbor High School graduate and also was a United States Navy veteran, serving in WWII and Korean War.
He formerly worked as Meat Dept. Supervisor at Grissom Air Force Base retiring in 1985. Marvin was also a former ambulance driver for Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester for 5 years, and former driver for Fred Allen Chevy and Buick in Winamac.
He was a member of Kewanna Church of Christ. He was a 50 year member of Kewanna Lodge 546 where he was Past Master and now a member of Rochester Lodge 79.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred M. Engle of Kewanna, 2 daughters, Karen Marie Lawson of Richmond, Virginia and Kathryn Ellen Perkins and husband, John of Greenwood and 1 sister, Bernice Engle of Lake Side, Indiana. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Jane Caldwell.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, 123 E. Main St. Kewanna.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pastor Scott Meneely will officiate and burial with Military Rites will be at Citizens IOOF Cemetery, Kewanna.
