Mary T. Sheetz Frushour transitioned on April 30, 2012 at age 93. She was born in Lucerne, Indiana Sept 21, 1918, to Josiah and Lusannah (Sweigart) Sheetz. Mary was a very sociable person who really enjoyed girl talk' and loved to play cards and games. An avid reader, she was also a lifelong baseball fan who followed the Cubs and the Tigers with great enthusiasm. Mary had a love of crocheting and knitting. Her knitting was particularly skillful and complex, earning the admiration of many. In May of 1933, she and her mother were sitting on their porch across Frushour Street from the Lucerne State Bank when the famous Bonnie and Clyde departed Lucerne in a gunfight. Bullet holes in the side of their house showed that they narrowly missed being shot. A neighbor, Doris Minor was wounded. She leaves behind her husband of 72 years, Stuart W. Frushour, Jr. whom she married December 24, 1939, and Three sons, Thomas A. (Mary Kay) of Samaria, MI, Samuel S. (Patti), of Bloomington, IN, and Daniel J. of Lansing, MI. Her grandchildren are Amy Kelly of Mineola, NY and Kevin (Amber) of Avalon, PA, and four great-grandchildren, Emily, Angela, Lily, and Benjamin. Church services were held May 7 in Temperance, MI. Graveside Services will be held at Metea Baptist Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on June 9, 2012. Local Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel.
