Merlin D. Funk, 83, of Royal Center passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Born on May 31, 1927 in Fulton County, he was the son of the late W.R. and Beulah (Mobley) Funk. On March 29, 1948 he married Mary Alice Mansfield.
He was a 1945 Star City High School graduate.
Merlin was a lifelong farmer who was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Logansport. He was a past president for Cass County Farm Bureau and Royal Center Lions Club where he also served as Lt. Gov., he was also a former board member for the Indiana State Farm Bureau and a former secretary and treasurer for Crimestoppers. Merlin had also been a former director for the state speech and hearing for the Indiana Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Alice Funk of Royal Center, sons, Conrad Funk and wife Elaine and Robert Funk and wife Debbie all of Royal Center and Garry Funk of Jasper, daughters, Deena Hubler and husband Robert of Jasper and Michele Funk-Cory and husband David of Fishers, brothers, Elvin and Timer Funk of Winamac, grandchildren, Rob, Jeff and Ryan Funk, Diann Moesner, Blair and Nathan Hubler, great grandchildren, Bryce, Jacob, Kaylee, Jordan, Elizabeth and Bo Funk, Alex Moesner and Marissa Gonzalez.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Tate Funk.
Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Logansport.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2010 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pastor Tim Berlin will officiate and burial will be at Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.
