Michael G. Carson, 63, of Elkhart, formerly of Logansport, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 12:18 p.m.

Born on September 18, 1948 in Logansport, he was the son of the late James H. Carson and Catherine J. Pressnall, she survives.

Michael was a 1967 Logansport High School graduate.

He supported the Christian's Children Fund as a sponsor and he volunteered for CASA (court appointed special advocate).

Michael was passionate about the railroad and worked for Conrail/Norfolk and Southern for over 20 years as an engineer and yard master. He loved golf, family, friends, and music.

Survivors include Michael's former wife, Beth Cripe; daughters, Terra Bentley, Dawn Fisher, Adrienne Field, Chelsea Heiliger, son, Troy Carson, sisters, Rhonda Wood and Rita (Charlie) McElheny , all of Indiana, brother, Chris (Laurie) Carson of California, half sisters, Sheila Carson, and Valerie (Chris) Baker, step sister, Diane Patton all of Indiana, and 9 grandchildren. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Hartzler Gutermuth Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday January 20, 2012 at Marocco ' Rans Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Burial will be at Deer Creek Cemetery in Onward.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
